Heralding a new era for Mexican punk and emerging from Mexico City’s thriving underground scene, Grito Exclamación has conquered the contemporary rock stage, infusing it with raw energy and an uncompromising punk spirit. Since their official formation in 2021 by Nana Pank, Rafa Romay, Eduardo Gante, Sebastián Palacios, and Paulina Villagrán, the quintet has become a symbol of youthful rebellion and artistic catharsis (Paruno / Rolling Stone).
Their self-titled debut album, released in mid-2024, marked a turning point — channeling existential angst and ideological determination, offering sharp guitar-driven punk that blends spoken-word poetry with brassy provocations (Rolling Stone | México). From intimate venues to urban stages, Grito Exclamación radiates an authenticity reminiscent of Gang of Four, Water From Your Eyes, and Dry Cleaning, while maintaining a distinctive and assertive voice. In recent months, their live shows have become nothing short of legendary.
Their performance at 316 Centro in Mexico City, for example, was described as “locked in the bathroom” — a fierce, frenetic event where guitars, brass, and primal movement merged into an explosive sonic ritual (Alt Citizen). The listening party for their debut album was equally epic: a subversive musical revolt attended by devoted fans, as guitars erupted and the crowd shed all restraint in a collective dance of defiance (La Bestia Radio Blog). More recently, Remezcla spotlighted Grito Exclamación as Mexico’s “emerging cry of rebellion,” recognizing the band’s key role in redefining punk culture across Latin America.
What makes Grito Exclamación so captivating is their ability to oscillate between dissonance and clarity, chaos and structure. Their music is a sonic manifesto — a cry: we exist, we rebel, we reflect. As Grito Exclamación prepares for their first concerts in Belgium, the band continues to stand as a barometer of youth’s disillusionment — and, simultaneously, of raw hope.
