IMPARFAIT is an alternative rock/metal band formed in 2015 by Prisca Kalengay and Bruno Veron, on vocals and bass respectively. Very quickly joined by Loïc Geiser on guitar, the band found its stability in 2016 with the arrival of Léo Louvigné on drums.

Together, the four musicians spend their first two years composing and playing in their home territory (southern Parisian suburbs). IMPARFAIT constitutes its first close network and its reputation of “stage group” begins to circulate. It was at this time that the sense of resourcefulness and DIY developed among the four musicians. The group records and mixes its first demos, scripts and produces its own clips, promotes its titles to the media. This resourcefulness is deeply rooted in IMPARFAIT’s DNA and remains the quartet’s usual working process to this day.

A first E.P Mécanique Des Foules was released in March 2017. Some fifty promotional dates followed over two years. The group is accompanied by Maxime Petit as sound engineer for the stage (Seek’n’record), the first person from outside the project to join the adventure. The quartet begins to make people talk about him outside his native suburbs, new challenges arrive with in particular some first parts which allow the group to gain notoriety (Tea Cup Monster, Pogo Car Crash Control, TARLD). It was during this period that the four musicians became more interested in sound, effects, the quality of the compositions, the relevance of the arrangements. Throughout 2018, IMPARFAIT benefits from a support and coaching system, the FOG, with the Empreinte (Savigny-Le-Temple). This one is extremely beneficial to bring the group to another level, especially for its live performances.

Everything accelerated in 2019 with the release of the second E.P Error 404. The tuning of the instruments, lower than on the previous one, gives the compositions a more massive rendering. The sound is more raw, more garage, voluntarily focused on rap with particular attention paid to the bass-drums duo. This year is marked by a step forward in professionalization, with in particular the arrival of manager Jonathan Aguilar and publisher Philippe Hebrard (Montlery Music).

This E.P allows IMPARFAIT to land even more important opening acts (Tagada Jones, Ultra Vomit, No One Is Innocent, Punish Yourself, Nova Twins), access to festivals hitherto out of reach (Festival Elfondurock, Algrange Music Live, Les Moissons Rock) and increasingly prestigious venues (Le Hangar, Espace Icare, La Boule Noire, Le Transbordeur). Thanks to this push forward, the group meets its booker Cyril David from Vegaprod Booking. Thirty dates follow one another over a year before the quartet, then in full French tour with The Nova Twins, is cut in its tracks by the global pandemic.

IMPARFAIT takes advantage of this forced break time to remix its second EP under the title Error 404 Update (available only on the Audius crypto-platform). Successive confinements also gave birth to the mixtape #910 as well as the first album, the release date of which is scheduled for spring 2022. In addition to this long work of composition, the group is structuring itself to take another step forward. The TELEMA RECORDS label was born from this common desire of the four musicians to keep control over production while securing the services of new partners to promote and defend this album, including Yann Landry from La Tête de l’Artiste, Eloa Mionzé of Give’Em Promotion and Angela Dufin of NRV Promotion. The label allows the group to sign its first distribution contract with Baco Records.

At the end of 2021, the concerts resume and the group hits the road again with new opening acts (Lofofora, Ausgang, Eiffel) and new territories and festivals (Durbuy Rock Festival, La Guerre des Gaules). A new live sound engineer is also joining the project, Esteban Le Pick (KRKN Studio) who brings new expertise and a more precise look at live sound, helping the group to gain even more precision and efficiency. One good news leading to another, IMPARFAIT is called up as the opening act for the entire Nova Twins French tour in March 2022 (9 dates).
