Active since 2013, Novelists has already earned its stripes as a veteran of the French and international metalcore scene. But make no mistake: the band continues to reinvent itself, to innovate. Driven by the sharp guitars of Pierre Danel and Florestan Durand, Novelists has established itself with a style that is both technical and atmospheric, where metalcore, post-rock, and soaring melodies collide. In 2023, the band turned a new page with the departure of vocalist Tobias Rische. Taking over the microphone is never easy… but Camille Contreras is clearly not one to back down from a challenge. Her voice and energy have given the band a new lease on life, which they describe as a miracle on their social media. If you hadn’t already guessed, for Novelists, playing it safe is out of the question: surprising, evolving, sometimes shaking things up… that’s the real agenda, and with a major Belgian exclusive to boot! Camille spoke to Metalzone.fr about their latest album, Coda (2025): “If you release an album and people say, ‘I was expecting exactly this,’ it means you weren’t creative.” At DRF, expect anything… except what you expected.
